Cloud infrastructure provider CoreWeave has recently experienced a notable decline in its share price, yet investment giant Deutsche Bank is urging investors to seize the opportunity, advocating to 'buy the dip.' The bank has issued a 'buy' rating on CoreWeave stock, setting an ambitious price target of $150 per share. This target suggests a massive 128% upside from the stock's closing price on Wednesday.
Analyst Brad Zelnick of Deutsche Bank noted in a client communication on Wednesday that a 'confluence of factors' appears to have triggered a steep selloff in CoreWeave's public equity and debt over the past week. While acknowledging that CoreWeave's trajectory is intrinsically linked to the growth of artificial intelligence and the increasing demand for underlying compute infrastructure, Zelnick expressed difficulty in identifying any specific company-related issues that would justify the recent market movement.
Shares of CoreWeave plummeted over 15% on Wednesday, with investor concerns centering on the company's substantial borrowing. In September, CoreWeave announced plans to raise $3 billion through a convertible debt offering. Despite this, Zelnick underscored that the fundamental market conditions for AI infrastructure remain 'quite supportive,' even amidst minor fluctuations in large language model token prices.
The analyst further highlighted that CoreWeave, which is backed by Nvidia, possesses strong potential for upward mobility even in challenging market environments. This resilience is attributed to its 'close customer and technical relationships' with leading industry players such as NVIDIA, Dell, Meta, and OpenAI. These strategic partnerships are expected to 'provide support and different financing options as market conditions evolve,' Zelnick added.
Deutsche Bank's optimistic outlook aligns broadly with the consensus across Wall Street. According to LSEG data, out of 45 analysts covering CoreWeave, an overwhelming 32 have issued either a 'buy' or 'strong buy' rating on the stock. Nevertheless, CoreWeave's shares continued their downward trend, trading more than 5% lower in Thursday's premarket session.
