Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has unveiled the company’s new $1,299 Meta VR Glasses and the Muse Charm, a handheld device for interacting with Meta’s AI agents. These announcements come as Meta continues to invest heavily in both virtual reality and artificial intelligence.
The sleek VR glasses, launching in spring 2027, aim to provide enhanced immersion, while the Muse Charm promises convenient voice interaction with AI. This strategic dual-pronged approach signals Meta’s forward-looking vision in the tech landscape.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, is doubling down on his metaverse vision while simultaneously accelerating the company's artificial intelligence ambitions. During the annual Meta Connect conference for developers, Zuckerberg revealed two significant new products: the Meta VR Glasses and the Muse Charm.
The Meta VR Glasses, priced at $1,299, represent a more streamlined and lighter evolution of Meta's virtual reality hardware compared to its previous Quest-branded headsets. These new glasses are slated for release in the spring of 2027. They feature enhanced visuals and integrated sensors for eye and hand tracking, reducing the reliance on controllers.
First look at Meta's new VR glasses.
Powering the Meta VR Glasses is an external puck containing a Qualcomm processor and battery. This design choice allows for a reduction in the weight and size of the glasses themselves, functioning as a compact computer. "We have built a new kind of VR device that delivers the same magical feeling of presence and immersion, high-resolution displays and views of the world around you in a form factor that is a pair of glasses for the first time," Zuckerberg stated.
Alongside the VR glasses, Zuckerberg introduced the Muse Charm, a handheld device designed to interact with Meta's recently launched Muse AI personal agent. While the exact cost of the Muse Charm was not disclosed, Zuckerberg indicated that Meta aims to have it ready for shipment in time for the holiday season in December. He highlighted its convenience, allowing users to engage with their AI agents verbally without needing to unlock a phone or open an application. "We've packed a lot of technology with this little guy," Zuckerberg remarked about the Muse Charm, emphasizing its utility for interacting with the AI and its surroundings.

The Meta VR Glasses mark Meta's first VR product since the introduction of the $299 Quest 3S in 2024, indicating a strategic move towards higher-end virtual reality experiences. This dual focus on advanced VR hardware and sophisticated AI agents underscores Meta's commitment to shaping the future of digital interaction.
