Billionaire investor Stan Kroenke has made another significant move in the sports world, agreeing to acquire a controlling stake in the Major League Baseball (MLB) team, the Los Angeles Angels, from the Moreno family. This landmark deal further extends Kroenke's already vast sports and entertainment portfolio.
The acquisition, which includes both the Los Angeles Angels franchise and its associated regional sports network, is reportedly valued at an impressive $4 billion. Sources with direct knowledge of the transaction, who were not authorized to disclose details publicly, confirmed the valuation.

The transaction is anticipated to be finalized in the first quarter of 2027, according to an official release. "The Angels are a storied franchise anchored in a great market. We look forward to an exciting future with the Angels organization," stated Kroenke, who serves as owner and chairman of Kroenke Sports and Entertainment (KSE).
Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, valued at over $26 billion in CNBC's most recent ranking of the world's most valuable sports empires published in June, now boasts ownership in every major professional sport. This move also deepens KSE's footprint in Los Angeles, one of the globe's premier sports and entertainment markets.

KSE's diverse holdings already include the NFL's Los Angeles Rams, the NBA's Denver Nuggets, the NHL's Colorado Avalanche, Major League Soccer's Colorado Rapids, the National Lacrosse League's Colorado Mammoth, and the Premier League's Arsenal Football Club. Beyond teams, Kroenke's empire also encompasses major venues and developments, such as SoFi Stadium and the sprawling 300-acre Hollywood Park district in Inglewood, California. Kroenke notably invested over $5 billion in SoFi Stadium, which is home to both the Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers.
Reflecting on the sale, Arte Moreno commented, "The Moreno Family has been honored to steward the Angels for 23 years and we believe with KSE's experience and success they are the best next owner for the franchise."
