Hyundai CEO José Muñoz announced the automaker is considering a significant increase in production capacity at its new Georgia Metaplant, potentially boosting output from 500,000 to 700,000-800,000 units annually by 2028. This expansion is part of a $26 billion U.S. investment plan, aiming to produce 80% of vehicles sold in the U.S. domestically, and would make it the nation’s largest vehicle assembly plant. Muñoz also noted that U.S. tariffs have played a role in accelerating these localization efforts.
