Gold’s Rally Shows Signs of Cooling, Historical Data Suggests

Gold’s recent impressive rally, which saw an 8% increase in August and a rise to its highest point since June, might be losing steam. According to Bespoke Investment Group, the precious metal has entered overbought territory for the first time since March 10th, a rare occurrence historically followed by negative returns.

Analysis shows that following similar periods, gold has historically seen declines of approximately 0.22% in the following week, 0.34% in the next month, and 0.53% over three months. With only 37% of past instances resulting in positive returns a year later, investors may want to watch for a potential pullback.
