Apple's AI Momentum Drives Stock to Record High, HSBC Sees More Upside
New York, NY – Even after reaching an all-time high this week, Apple's stock still has significant room for growth, according to HSBC. The investment bank has upgraded its rating on the tech giant to 'buy' from 'hold,' citing the company's aggressive push into artificial intelligence and a robust pipeline of new product launches.
HSBC analyst Nicolas Cote-Colisson raised his price target on Apple shares to $366 from $260, indicating a potential 10% increase from recent trading levels. "We believe that the launch of AI features and a strong product pipeline have the potential to drive a major upgrade cycle," Cote-Colisson stated in a note to clients on Friday.
Apple's stock has already surged 23% year-to-date, benefiting from the broader AI boom. On Thursday, the company's shares touched a record high of $334.68. HSBC believes Apple is well-positioned to capitalize on the AI trend through its upcoming "Apple Intelligence" personal AI system for iPad, Mac, and iPhone users.
"Apple is now at an operational turning point: not only can the company stay away from the (too) high capex debate (it only invests 2.5% of its [estimated 2026] sales vs 39% for hyperscalers)…it is also well placed to leverage its 2.5 [billion] installed device base with its forthcoming revamped Apple Intelligence," Cote-Colisson explained. The forthcoming agentic Siri AI is also expected to enhance customer demand for Apple devices.
Adding to the optimistic outlook, Apple is anticipated to unveil several highly awaited products later this year, including the foldable iPhone Ultra, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. This product innovation, coupled with AI advancements, presents a compelling case for continued growth.
HSBC's bullish stance aligns with the broader Wall Street consensus. Data from LSEG indicates that out of 48 analysts covering Apple, 31 recommend a 'buy' or 'strong buy' rating.
