Leveraging data from TipRanks, a platform renowned for ranking analysts based on their historical performance, we delve into three dividend-paying stocks that have earned top endorsements from Wall Street's leading professionals.
Exxon Mobil: A Pillar of Consistent Dividends
Integrated oil and gas behemoth Exxon Mobil stands out with an impressive track record of 43 consecutive years of dividend increases. Currently, its quarterly dividend stands at $1.03 per share, translating to an annualized dividend of $4.12 and offering a yield of 2.6%.
Morgan Stanley analyst Devin McDermott, a highly-rated expert, recently reaffirmed his 'buy' rating on Exxon Mobil. He also elevated his price target to $177 from $168. McDermott's optimism stems from revised free cash flow (FCF) estimates, incorporating Q2 guidance and current oil price trends, with a significant boost noted for integrated players due to improved refining margins. The five-star analyst notably increased his FCF estimates by an average of 20% for late 2026 and 7% for 2027.
McDermott highlighted that while pure-play refiners have seen gains from stronger margins, integrated energy giants like Exxon Mobil, Suncor, and Cenovus Energy have lagged, presenting attractive relative-value opportunities. He remains bullish on Exxon Mobil, anticipating robust earnings and cash flow growth driven by strong upstream volumes, high-value Product Solutions projects, and over $5 billion in structural cost savings. McDermott emphasized, "XOM's large global integrated operations and strong balance sheet (0.0x 2027 net leverage) make it a clear defensive play in an uncertain macro backdrop."
McDermott is ranked No. 726 among over 12,490 analysts on TipRanks, with 59% profitable ratings and an average return of 9.80%.
Expand Energy: Capitalizing on Natural Gas
Next on the list is natural gas producer Expand Energy. The company declared a quarterly base dividend of $0.575 per share, payable on September 3. With an annualized dividend of $2.30 per share, EXE provides a yield of approximately 2.3%.
Goldman Sachs analyst Neil Mehta recently reiterated his 'buy' rating on Expand Energy and raised his price target from $99 to $113. Mehta attributed this increase to improved cash flow and a strong outlook for shareholder returns, also noting the stock's compelling valuation with an 11% FCF yield based on his 2027/2028 estimates, surpassing the peer average of 9%.
The five-star analyst projects Expand Energy to generate FCF per share of about $10 in FY28, up from a previous estimate of $8, assuming his mid-cycle price forecast of $3.50/MMBtu Henry Hub. Mehta's increased FCF estimate reflects an improved outlook for share repurchases, operational efficiencies, and better gas pricing. Furthermore, he believes the recent $1.25 billion Twin Eagle acquisition will enhance the combined business's competitive edge, allowing it to expand into premium markets and secure additional deals in the power and LNG sectors.
Mehta ranks No. 449 out of more than 12,490 analysts on TipRanks, boasting a 64% success rate and an average return of 12.1%.
Diamondback Energy: Permian Basin Powerhouse
Neil Mehta also holds a bullish view on Diamondback Energy, an independent oil and natural gas company primarily operating in the Permian Basin of West Texas. The company recently distributed a base cash dividend of $1.10 per share for the second quarter of 2026, giving FANG stock a dividend yield of 2.2%.
Mehta upgraded his price target on FANG to $220 from $212, maintaining a 'buy' rating. He cited the company's capital-efficient volume growth, particularly as oil prices remain elevated amidst ongoing supply disruptions in the Middle East. Mehta remarked, "We remain constructive on FANG, a high-quality, pure-play Permian Basin operator that continues to drive incremental capital efficiencies and strong well productivity relative to peers."
The analyst also highlighted that the removal of a minimum return of capital commitment grants Diamondback greater flexibility in capital allocation decisions, a crucial advantage given high oil price volatility and macroeconomic uncertainties. Mehta pointed out that Diamondback sees a favorable environment for production growth, driven by potential global inventory restocking. In Q2 2026, FANG's production volumes of 1,018 Mboe/d surpassed the high end of its guidance, boosted by stronger-than-expected natural gas output from Barnett development and enhanced downstream gas marketing.
Overall, Mehta is optimistic about Diamondback's trajectory, foreseeing further upside due to higher production estimates, solid productivity, and a deepening presence in the Barnett shale formation.
