SK Hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung has warned that the global memory chip shortage is likely to continue until 2030, citing soaring demand from AI and other emerging technologies. To address this, the company is investing $4 billion in a new fabrication plant in Indiana, USA, which will focus on producing advanced High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) chips essential for AI applications.

This expansion marks SK Hynix’s first major U.S. manufacturing facility and is a strategic move to secure future production capacity and enhance its market position in the burgeoning AI chip sector.
