BTIG has revealed its top stock picks for the second half of 2026, anticipating continued rallies in sectors like healthcare, financials, and industrials, while cautioning on tech and AI. Among the 55 large- and small-cap stocks identified, the firm highlights Swiss sneaker maker On Holding, cybersecurity giant Palo Alto Networks, and financial services company Capital One Financial for significant upside potential.
BTIG is predicting that some market rallies from the past six months will sustain their momentum, while other stocks are set for a comeback, as the firm announces its top investment selections for the latter half of 2026. Jonathan Krinsky, BTIG's chief market technician, noted in a recent report that while technology stocks initially spearheaded the recovery from the U.S.-Iran war lows in late March, sectors such as healthcare, financials, and industrials have gained favor since mid-May and are expected to continue this positive trend.
"We observe indicators suggesting this market broadening can persist," Krinsky stated. "Financials exhibit consistent strength across banking, real estate investment trusts (REITs), and insurance. Biotechnology is also demonstrating strong performance, with the IBB ETF breaking out of a five-year consolidation pattern." However, Krinsky expressed caution regarding the "Mag7" (Magnificent Seven) tech stocks, noting their rapid rollover, and suggested that while they might stabilize, the semiconductor and AI trade remains susceptible to a more significant downturn.
The firm's report named a total of 55 large- and small-cap companies as its top selections for the remainder of the year. Here are a few notable names from that comprehensive list:
- On Holding: Shares of the Swiss athletic footwear company have declined over 20% in 2026. However, analyst Janine Stichter has set a price target of $70, projecting an impressive 90% gain from Thursday's closing price. Stichter views On Holding as a premier growth narrative within the retail sector. She argues, "While the skeptical perspective assumes decelerating growth, we foresee a balanced and sustainable growth trajectory, with opportunities spanning lifestyle and running categories, various distribution channels, product diversification, and geographical expansion."
- Palo Alto Networks: The cybersecurity firm's stock has already soared nearly 90% in 2026. Analyst Gray Powell believes there is further upside, assigning a price target of $380, which implies a 9% increase from Thursday's close. Powell highlighted Palo Alto's comprehensive cybersecurity offerings and expects the company to maintain mid-teen revenue growth over the coming years.
- Capital One Financial: This financial services giant is among the weaker performers in the S&P Financials sector, having fallen over 15% in 2026. Analyst Vincent Caintic foresees a 26% upside for the stock from Thursday's close, with a price target of $259. Caintic acknowledges investor concerns about Capital One's expenditures but does not share this apprehension. He noted, "Our bullish scenario suggests COF shares will perform well if the company effectively executes its planned integrations, realizing both revenue enhancements and cost efficiencies." He specifically referenced the company's acquisitions of Discover and Brex, adding, "While expenses do appear to be rising, we anticipate greater revenue upside, productivity improvements, and margin expansion resulting from these strategic investments."
