President Donald Trump has publicly stated his confidence in Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh, despite demanding a drastic cut in interest rates to 1% or lower. This comes just hours after the Fed announced its first rate hike since 2023.<\/p>\n

Trump’s comments, made after arriving for a campaign trip, appear to contradict assurances of the Fed’s independence, as he criticized the central bank’s board as “hostile” and “political.” The Fed, meanwhile, cited “elevated” inflation as the reason for the rate increase.<\/p>\n
