An investor identifies three “Magnificent Seven” stocks – Nvidia, Alphabet, and Amazon – as top buys today due to their significant potential in the artificial intelligence (AI) build-out. Both Alphabet (Google Cloud) and Amazon (AWS) are seeing booming cloud computing growth with high operating margins, driven by massive data center investments. Nvidia, as the primary supplier of AI-critical GPUs, is set to benefit immensely from hyperscaler spending, projecting an impressive 70% revenue increase for 2027.
The "Magnificent Seven" represents a collection of the market's leading technology stocks. While their individual dominance might have shifted slightly since the group's inception, these companies collectively remain the largest stocks listed on the U.S. stock market. This elite group includes:
- Nvidia (NVDA)
- Apple (AAPL)
- Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL)
- Microsoft (MSFT)
- Amazon (AMZN)
- Meta Platforms (META)
- Tesla (TSLA)
As an investor who currently holds positions in all these stocks, my focus for additional purchases narrows down to three compelling choices: Nvidia, Alphabet, and Amazon. Why these three? Their significant potential to capitalize on the burgeoning artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure makes them stand out.

Cloud Computing Giants: Amazon and Alphabet's AI-Driven Growth
Amazon and Alphabet stand as pivotal players in the cloud computing arena. Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud consistently rank as industry leaders (typically first and third, respectively), and both are aggressively investing to maintain and expand their market positions. Projections indicate massive capital expenditures for data centers: Amazon is expected to spend $220 billion by 2026, with Alphabet allocating around $200 billion. One might question why such heavy spending makes their stocks a compelling buy.
The answer lies in the exceptionally high return on investment these expenditures are expected to generate.
Alphabet's Google Cloud is demonstrating incredible momentum. In Q2, Google Cloud's revenue surged by an astounding 82% year over year, achieving an impressive 36% operating margin. This robust growth significantly bolstered Alphabet's overall performance. With a backlog exceeding $500 billion, the demand for computing power is immense. While current spending is substantial, it's paving the way for significantly larger profits in the future.
Amazon mirrors this trend. AWS recorded a strong 37% growth in Q2, far outstripping its commerce division's growth. Crucially, AWS boasts a much higher profit margin. Despite contributing approximately 21% of Amazon's Q2 revenue, AWS accounted for a massive 60% of its operating profits. This implies that as AWS's growth accelerates with new computing capacity, its profitability will expand at an even faster rate, solidifying Amazon's position as a top Magnificent Seven investment.
Nvidia: The Indispensable Powerhouse of AI Computing
While Amazon and Alphabet are developing their own custom AI chips for data centers, the overwhelming majority of their computing power, and that used by their clients, relies on Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) manufactured by Nvidia. GPUs have become synonymous with AI computing, making Nvidia an essential supplier. Cloud computing providers are compelled to continuously acquire Nvidia chips to meet escalating client demand for AI capabilities.
Nvidia is directly benefiting from Amazon and Alphabet's substantial investments. However, the AI infrastructure build-out is far from complete. Nvidia recently informed investors that the five largest AI hyperscalers are projected to spend nearly $800 billion on data centers this year, with that figure skyrocketing to $1.3 trillion next year. This unprecedented spending spree will fuel immense growth for Nvidia. The company confidently projected an impressive 70% increase in revenue for 2027.
NVDA Revenue (Quarterly YOY Growth) data by YCharts
This projected growth rate significantly surpasses that of any other company within the Magnificent Seven, underscoring Nvidia's consistent outperformance. While Amazon and Alphabet remain excellent investment choices, Nvidia continues to be the premier stock to consider within this influential group.
