In a significant political move, President Donald Trump has officially named Katie Zacharia, a prominent legal mind and senior communications advisor for Trump Media & Technology Group, as the new White House press secretary. The announcement came Sunday via a post on Truth Social, the president's preferred social media platform.
President Trump expressed his enthusiasm for Zacharia's appointment, stating, "I am pleased to announce that Katie Zacharia will be beginning her term as Press Secretary tomorrow, Columbus Day, and will be doing an introductory News Conference on Tuesday at 9:30 A.M. from the Press Briefing Room in the White House. Katie has been with me, in spirit, from the very beginning, and will do a fantastic job!"
Zacharia, who describes herself as a "hardline Trump supporter" on social media, steps into the role previously held by Karoline Leavitt, who departed the administration in late August. Leavitt, having recently been on maternity leave, is reportedly set to join Fox News as an on-air contributor next month.
Zacharia's extensive background includes serving since June as a senior communications advisor for Trump Media, the company behind Truth Social. Her LinkedIn profile further indicates her role as general counsel at Fix California, a conservative activist organization founded by Richard Grenell, a former Trump administration official and special presidential envoy.
Her experience also spans a two-month period in March as a spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security. Beyond her official government and advisory roles, Zacharia is a familiar face in conservative media, with her IMDb page listing numerous appearances on Fox News political talk shows and other outlets, solidifying her public profile as a commentator and legal expert.
