After a challenging summer, the semiconductor sector is showing signs of a robust recovery, with technical indicators pointing to improved short-term momentum. Market analysts are observing positive catalysts emerging as the industry rebounds from previously oversold conditions.
Highlighting this resurgence, Arm Holdings plc (ARM) has captured significant attention. The stock recently achieved a fresh breakout, surpassing its 50-day Moving Average (MA) and daily cloud model, establishing a new support level around $275. According to technical analyst Katie Stockton, whose insights are often featured (a more detailed chart breakdown would be available in the original accompanying video), ARM's short-term momentum has definitively shifted positive, reinforced by its daily MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence) indicator, which further supports the current rally.
The long-term technical outlook for ARM is equally constructive. In the second quarter, ARM successfully broke out of a prolonged trading range. Moreover, its weekly stochastics are showing an oversold upturn, a strong signal that a higher low has been firmly established relative to its performance in February.
ARM demonstrated exceptional strength recently, with its stock price surging approximately 17% on Monday. This impressive performance significantly outpaced both the broader S&P 500 Index and the specialized Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOX).
Analysts anticipate this outperformance to continue in the coming weeks, especially given that ARM’s ratio to the S&P 500 has broken above its own 50-day MA. While initial resistance for ARM is noted at the upper boundary of the cloud model, this appears to be surmountable. A more significant secondary resistance level is identified around $364, correlating with a 61.8% Fibonacci retracement. Crucially, the August lows near $223 are expected to provide solid support for the stock moving forward.
