Wall Street firm BTIG has unveiled its highly anticipated top stock picks for the second half of 2026, signaling a strategic shift towards broader market rallies and caution regarding previous tech darlings. While the initial market recovery post-U.S.-Iran war lows in late March was tech-led, BTIG’s chief market technician, Jonathan Krinsky, noted in a recent report that sectors like healthcare, financials, and industrials have gained significant traction since mid-May, a trend he expects to continue.
"We see evidence that the broadening can continue. Financials remain strong across banks, REITs, and insurance. Biotech is coming on strong as IBB breaks out of a five-year base," Krinsky stated. Conversely, he expressed reservations about the prevailing tech and AI narrative: "We have seen Mag7 quickly roll over, and while they can probably stabilize, we continue to think the semi/AI trade is vulnerable to a more meaningful unwind lower."
BTIG’s comprehensive list includes 55 large- and small-cap stocks, with a few prominent names detailed below:
On Holding: Poised for a 90% Upside
Swiss sneaker manufacturer, On Holding, has experienced a challenging 2026 so far, with shares down over 20%. However, BTIG analyst Janine Stichter sees immense potential, setting a compelling price target of $70, which implies a staggering 90% gain from Thursday's close. Stichter enthusiastically identifies the athleisure company as one of retail's most compelling growth narratives. "While the bear case assumes moderating growth, we see a balanced and sustainable growth profile, with opportunity across both lifestyle and running, channels of distribution, product category, and geography," she elaborated in her research note.
Palo Alto Networks: Cybersecurity's Continuing Ascent
Cybersecurity stalwart Palo Alto Networks has already had an exceptional 2026, with its shares soaring by nearly 90%. Analyst Gray Powell believes the rally is far from over, assigning a price target of $380, suggesting a further 9% upside from Thursday's close. Powell lauded Palo Alto for possessing the industry's broadest cybersecurity offering and anticipates the company can sustain impressive mid-teens revenue growth over the coming years, reinforcing its leadership position in a critical and expanding market.
Capital One Financial: A Turnaround Story in the Making
Amidst the S&P Financials sector, Capital One Financial stands out as one of the year's weakest performers, with shares dipping more than 15% in 2026. Despite this, BTIG analyst Vincent Caintic projects a significant turnaround, eyeing a $259 price target that implies a robust 26% upside from Thursday's close. Caintic acknowledges investor apprehension regarding Capital One’s recent spending, particularly following its acquisitions of Discover and Brex, but dismisses these concerns. "Our bull case is that COF shares do well if it simply executes on its planned integration with revenue and expense savings," Caintic asserted. He expects these strategic investments to yield "more revenue upside, productivity enhancements, and margin improvement," ultimately driving shareholder value.
