Kalshi, a federally regulated options exchange, announced today the immediate rollout of significant measures designed to combat insider trading and enhance market integrity. These new protocols include mandatory employment verification for traders in certain markets and the introduction of robust whistleblower services.

The platform is implementing these changes in response to recommendations from an advisory committee that called for stronger safeguards against potential market manipulation. "By implementing these new integrity measures, we continue to lead the industry on the issue of market integrity amongst federally regulated prediction markets," stated Robert DeNault, Kalshi Head of Enforcement.

Key Initiatives Unveiled

• Employment Verification: Traders participating in specific markets deemed susceptible to insider trading or manipulation will be required to provide detailed employment information. Kalshi will screen traders before any trade is executed.
• Risk Scoring: The platform will introduce a risk scoring system for its markets, identifying those with a higher likelihood of insider trading or manipulation. This scoring will consider factors such as national security concerns and regulatory compliance.
• Enhanced Whistleblower Services: Kalshi is bolstering its whistleblower program, allowing users to report abusive trading activities at any time. The platform has developed internal alerting controls to efficiently collect and forward tips to its surveillance team.

These enhancements come at a time of increased regulatory scrutiny on prediction markets. Notably, a recent high-profile case involved a Google employee being charged with fraud for allegedly profiting over a million dollars using insider information on the Polymarket platform.

Kalshi reported that its new screening tools have already been effective, stopping over a hundred potential insider trading incidents in the first quarter. The advisory committee is expected to continue providing quarterly reports on market integrity.
