America Remembers: Commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the 9/11 Attacks

Twenty-five years after the devastating 9/11 terror attacks, the United States solemnly commemorated the nearly 3,000 lives lost. These coordinated assaults resulted in the tragic loss of 2,977 lives across New York, the Pentagon, and aboard the hijacked planes, making it the deadliest terrorist attack ever on American soil. The aftermath profoundly shaped U.S. foreign policy, directly triggering the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan and ushering in a broader 'war on terror' that included the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

This year, on the 25th anniversary of the attacks, Americans gathered to honor the victims through moments of silence and poignant remembrance ceremonies held at the three hallowed sites. Dignitaries, including former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden, alongside Vice President JD Vance and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, attended the solemn ceremony at the Sept. 11 memorial at ground zero. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump delivered remarks at the Pentagon ceremony.
