This monumental figure surpasses the previous record holder, 'Avengers: Endgame,' which garnered $60 million in pre-release ticket sales back in 2019, marking a significant milestone for Hollywood's exhibition sector.

Industry analysts are buzzing with the unprecedented success, with Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore, noting, "The demand for 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' is nothing short of astonishing. For a film to earn more than $70 million in pre-shows is unprecedented, and it reflects massive enthusiasm among moviegoers to head to the multiplex for the latest Marvel epic." The film's impressive preview numbers were boosted by early access screenings on Wednesday and Thursday night previews, fueling a fervent fan response.

Projections suggest 'Brand New Day' could haul in approximately $270 million domestically over its opening weekend. While this figure is expected to surpass the $260 million debut of 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' in 2021, it is anticipated to fall short of 'Avengers: Endgame's' colossal $357 million opening.

Despite not having the advantage of an IMAX release, which is currently occupied by 'The Odyssey,' 'Brand New Day' is leveraging premium large formats, including ScreenX, 4DX, Dolby Cinema, and HDR by Barco. ScreenX alone contributed $1.8 million to Thursday's ticket sales and is projected to reach $4 million by the weekend's end, while 4DX has already garnered $1.3 million and is expected to hit $4.5 million.

The film's late July release is poised to provide a significant boost to the domestic box office, a period that typically experiences a slowdown. This influx of audience engagement is crucial as the industry heads into the fall season. Year-to-date, the domestic box office has amassed $5.6 billion, trailing 2019 levels by 16%, though the summer corridor shows a narrower gap of 9%.

Looking ahead, the industry anticipates further box office growth with upcoming releases such as Lionsgate's 'The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping' in November, and Warner Bros.' 'Dune: Part Three' and Disney's 'Avengers: Doomsday' slated for December.
