OMAHA, Nebraska — The annual "Berkshire Bazaar of Bargains" at CHI Health Center Omaha is still brimming with deals, but this year with a noticeable difference: fewer crowds. The event, tied to Berkshire Hathaway's annual meeting, features familiar favorites like Warren Buffett-themed gear from Brooks Sports and See's Candies chocolate, alongside merchandise from numerous subsidiaries.
This shift comes as Warren Buffett, the 95-year-old chairman who has long been the focal point of the gathering, is transitioning to a less prominent role, with Greg Abel, who assumed the CEO position at the start of 2026, stepping into the spotlight. Abel actively engaged with attendees, visiting every booth, greeting employees, and shaking hands with shareholders, drawing lines of people eager to meet him.
Jazwares, the owner of the popular Squishmallow plush toys (acquired through Berkshire's 2022 purchase of Alleghany Corporation), saw continued strong interest, including a new Abel-themed Squishmallow. Jeremy Padawer, president of Jazwares, highlighted Abel's engagement and involvement, noting his contribution to the design of his own plush.
See's Candies celebrated the occasion with themed chocolate treats and displays featuring Buffett and Abel playing hockey, a nod to Abel's Canadian heritage. Brooks Running offered a special edition of its running shoes branded with "Berkshire Hathaway," and nearly 2,000 shareholders are expected to participate in the Brooks "Invest in Yourself" 5K fun run and walk.
Other Berkshire subsidiaries, including BNSF Railway, NetJets, GEICO, and Marmon Holdings, also had a presence at the event.
Correction: Jeremy Padawer is the president of Jazwares. An earlier version misstated his first name.
